For the New Year, here are some great resources on justice and poverty.
We have MANY copies of a book called Walking with the Poor by Bryant Myers. This book reads like a graduate-level treatise on a Christian approach to engaging with teh poor. It's a great book, but it's not an easy read. If you want one, email Jen Paddock (jpaddock@belpres.org) and she will put one at the front desk for you!
Other books we recommend:
Love Does by Bob Goff
When Helping Hurts by Steve Corbett
The Church of Irresistable Influence by Robert Lewis
Beyond Duty: A Passion for Christ, a Heart for Mission by Tim Dearborn
The Hole in Our Gospel by Richard Stearns
Operation World by Jason Mandryk
The End of Poverty by Jeffrey Sachs
And here are some articles that help put materialism into perspective:
When a Kid's Bedroom Isn't a Room by James Mollison
Material World
