Holy Spirit Unleashed
What happens when we allow the Holy Spirit to be unleashed in our lives, when we stop tapping the brakes on the Spirit’s power and start cooperating with it? And what happens when whole churches and communities do that? Historically that has been called revival, which includes large numbers of people coming to Jesus, but is so much more than that. Throughout history there have been sustained periods of revival that lasted decades or even centuries (The Early Christians, Welsh Revival, First and Second Great Awakenings, Azusa Street Revival, current revivals in Africa, Asia, and Latin America). Marriages were healed, families restored, crime dropped, racial justice and reconciliation advanced, workplaces were transformed, chains of addiction were broken. These things happened not just to individuals but were played out in cities and even countries. When God’s people radically yield their lives to the leading of the Holy Spirit and obey him, his power is unleashed in us and through us to change the world. It’s happened before. It can happen again.
